This album was a sort of crossover rock/pop sound and is probably best remembered for the single "I Got You" which took the Enz to the top of the Australian, New Zealand and Canadian charts, to No. 12 in Britain, and even got them onto the US charts, where the song reached No. 53, while the album peaked at No. To me the album contained /5(32).

  4. Split Enz found their place in new wave with True Colours, shedding the eccentricities and excesses of their past in favor of bright, highly memorable, Beatlesque pop. The album also marked Neil Finn's emergence as a great songcraftsman -- his infectious "I Got You" helped to push the album and the band to international success. Both the single and the album stand as high points of the new.

  7. 7: Nobody Takes me Seriously Layer upon layer of interesting and haunting synths, this track brings me back in Split Enz’s pop. I am immediately taken upon an interesting rollercoaster ride of synths, all leading to the “Nobody take me seriously anyway chorus” which matches the tone of the synths. You can’t take this song seriously, anyway.
